News from Teterboro Airport

With its close proximity to New York City, Teterboro Airport (TEB) is one of the busiest general aviation reliever airports in the United States.

Avports has been providing comprehensive airport management at TEB since 1970. Our team provides key airport management functions including airport operations, maintenance, administration, accounting, noise abatement and environmental compliance services. In addition to operating a busy reliever airport, Avports’ team supports several events over the course of the year.

Teterboro Airport Community Benefit Fund

Since inception, through 2017, the Teterboro Airport Community Benefit Fund Golf Classic has enabled the TEB airport community to award 230 scholarships to local high school graduates aspiring to pursue higher education in aviation or related fields of study. Due to the success of last year’s event, scholarships totaling $12,000 were made available to students from 10 area high schools. Scholarship recipients for the 2018 school year were recognized at the annual luncheon held at the Dassault Falcon Jet hangar on June 6. “Avports staff play a key role in organizing all aspects of the golf event as well as the awards luncheon”. The 2018 Golf Classic will take place September 24 at the Basking Ridge Country Club.

Teterboro Airport/United Way 5K Run

TEB hosted the 21st annual Teterboro Airport / United Way 5K Run. The run takes place along a portion of Runway 1/19 and adjacent taxiways with proceeds benefiting “A Home for Heroes”, a program dedicated to building safe, affordable housing for local military families. The 2018 5K was a great success, featuring 500 runners and raising $40,000 for A Home for Heroes.

Good Neighbor AwardGood Neighbor Awards

The TEB Noise Abatement and Environmental Compliance department recognized fifteen companies with the annual “Good Neighbor Award”. The award is presented annually to based and non-based aircraft operators who do not receive a noise violation and avoid operating late-night flights over the course of the previous calendar year. The Good Neighbor Award program provides positive reinforcement of the airport’s goal to minimize its noise footprint.

ISO 9001:2015

Avports’ operation of TEB is unique in that it is certified to the ISO 9001 quality management standard. The standard provides guidance and tools to ensure that services provided consistently meet customer requirements and that quality is consistently improved. The Avports team at TEB has maintained an ISO certification since 2000 and was successful in planning and executing the required changes to meet the new ISO 9001:2015 standard for its Quality Management System. Following a multi-day audit Avports was found to have only one minor non-conformity and thus was granted an upgraded certificate effective April 5, 2018.
